A Trailblazer in Public Service

Ruth Rosalie Millar was a distinguished public servant whose leadership and vision left an enduring legacy at The Bahamas Mortgage Corporation (BMC) and across the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.  Appointed Acting Managing Director at the establishment of BMC in 1983, and later confirmed as Managing Director, she became the Corporation’s first female leader and served until 1993. 

Under her stewardship, BMC was strengthened as a vital national institution, expanding opportunities for homeownership and improving the lives of countless Bahamian families. Her service exemplified integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to national development. 

In recognition of her outstanding contributions, the BMC headquarters was proudly named the Ruth Millar Administrative Complex on Friday, October 6, 2023,  ensuring her legacy of service endures.
